Why I built Pitchside
I coach a football team. When I went looking for an app to manage my squad, every option I found wanted me to create an account, pay a monthly subscription, or sit through ads. I just wanted to track my players and plan sessions. It shouldn't be that complicated.
I have been a full-stack software engineer for over 25 years, building products for companies across the world. So when I couldn't find the right tool, I did what I have always done and built it myself. Pitchside is the result of decades of engineering experience applied to a problem I deal with every week on the training ground.
The goal was simple: an app that opens and works. No sign-up wall, no recurring fees, no ads interrupting you while you are trying to check your lineup before kickoff.
Privacy was a big part of it too. A lot of coaching apps store your data on their servers. When you are working with young players, that didn't sit right with me. Pitchside keeps everything on your device. I do not run servers that collect your data, and I never will.
There is no analytics, no tracking, and no third-party code watching what you do. The only data we ever receive is what you choose to send us directly, like a support email. Everything else stays on your phone, and we have no way to access it.
Pitchside is not trying to be everything for everyone. It is a focused tool for coaches who want to manage their squad, log matches, and plan training without the noise. It works offline, it respects your privacy, and it was built by someone who actually uses it on match days.
